Here’s what I’m listening to recently. I’m going to try and do this semi-regularly, but we’ll see if I actually keep on top of it.
- Memories, Violet & Demons by Broken Little Sister
Remember that shoegaze thing all us Americans were fawning over? The Japanese remember, and they showed up 20 years later to knock it out of the fucking park. - Mosaik by Siriusmo
One of those electronica sort of twitchy sort of IDM things. Nicely varied, great production values, and lots of catchy little grooves. - Our First American Friends by Tubelord
Take the slightly alt. rock/pop sound so common a few years ago, and forget you ever heard it. Once you look past that, you’ll find some super-solid writing, and hummable catchy melodies. It’s like how I felt about SSLYBY a few years ago: look past what you’re generalizing it as, and never look back. - Story of an Earth Girl by Earth Girl Helen Brown
Some sort of lo-fi psychedelic rock folk story? I sure do love it though. - Malevolent Melody EP by the dead pirates
One of my very favorite illustrators releases one of my very favorite EPs. Proper redneck bar rock, I think I’d classify it as. Watch the video for “wood”, it is so good.
Hopefully that keeps you all going for a bit.
